Mastodon WordPress Site Verification

UPDATE – So it looks like a big nevermind! After all was said about this plugin adding the “rel=me” stuff, I regret to say I see no evidence of it. I’ll keep diving/swimming…

A problem that has been vexing me for a while is getting a WordPress “blog” as a verified link in my Mastodon profile. Today I finally took a little deeper dive in my still shallow pool of Mastodon/Federated/IndieWeb knowledge and understanding.

Installing the WordPress IndieWeb plugin automagically added the “rel=me” to my Microblog site link so that I could add it to the list of verified sites in my profile. Previous to this, trying to add the rel=me to the main page through widgets and menus had failed.

Hat tip to Tantek for the push to dive deeper into #RelMeAuth. Hope this helps others who are trying to do the same.

100+°F Temperature Gradient Likely As Extreme Pre-Christmas Cold Snap Hits U.S. – DAMWeather:

Temperatures will dip into the 40s down in the Everglades, and lows on Christmas morning will even get into the lower 20s across the northern Gulf Coast. (22°F is frigid for Mobile, Alabama, y’all.)

Conditions will gradually improve and warm toward some semblance of normal during that vaporwave week between Christmas and New Year’s when existence is a simulation and nobody actually gets anything done except for eating cookies and reading best-of-2022 listicles.

Mastodon RSS Stuff

Here’s a bit of information about RSS feeds in Mastodon.

First of all, you should already know that all Mastodon users have an RSS feed. If you take your account and add “rss” to the end, you get (using my account for example):

https://mastodon.social/@andyrush.rss

Easy as that!

OK. How about other feeds. Well, you can get a feed from a hashtag. Try…

https://mastodon.social/tags/photomonday.rss

That will give you the RSS feed for the hashtag #PhotoMonday and you will see the results displayed accordingly.

I’ll add more as I discover them, or if you have some, send them to me!
